Emerging from academic research and pivoting into services and manufacturing, Neochromosome was seeking a brand that reflected its flagship innovation which harnessed the use of saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast to manufacture synthetic DNA and engineer cells to investigate novel therapeutics,

Koolgirlposse was inspired by the organic growth patterns of yeast cultures and made the dot motif — organized in both non-uniform and uniform patterns – a signature brand element, reflected in the rounded brand typeface as well as an icon set and an illustration style for explanatory diagrams.

Application of the branding was delivered as printed collateral, product sheets, a Wordpress website, as well as conference booth graphics, with the pattern’s reference to yeast being immediately recognizable by industry scientists.
