The East Triangle had long been an underutilized space in the National September 11 Museum. Recognizing this, the museum contracted koolgirlposse to design a flexible installation that felt familial to current displays in the museum. It needed to convey reverence, given the proximity to an emotionally sensitive area adjacent to the installation.

The solution was a platform of warm wood detailing to tie the graphic backdrop, display case, and stanchion sign together, while speaking to the unique limitations of the space, with a priority on accessibility.

The first memorial honors fallen U.S. Air Force personnel who fought the war on Terror post 9/11.
